Free time logging app
Alternate Timer is a free program for Windows that lets you manage and log time spent on various activities. These can include daily work and internet usage. As a default, the time tables are recorded monthly. However, there’s a feature that allows you to combine these timetables to get an overview for a whole year.
This app works a little bit like Timer and Free Countdown Timer. You can time different activities; however, Alternate Timer has a few more features that make it ideal for remote working or individuals who charge per hour.
The program creates timetables on a grid. This grid records your activity with a timer on your desktop while you work on your computer. The sleep timer kicks in and the program stops tracking your time when the action pauses or there’s no activity for an extended period.
How does it work?
At the end of the day, you can see how well you or your employee worked for the day. The grid will reflect when you started tracking to when you stopped tracking, and then it will also show the length of pause time that was tracked.
In the tab above the grid, you can see a summary of the information for the day and the month. This will show your total hours so far, what they should be and how many hours you have left before reaching your goal for the month.
Other useful features
Aside from the time tracking feature, which is already quite useful for time management, the program also offers other characteristics that make it useful in a workplace or professional setting.
The first useful feature is setting the program to calculate salaries and wages from the timetables. Another benefit of this program is that you can export the timetables in CSV format for other programs. Furthermore, Alternate Timer also offers password protection, individual settings for daily breaks, various view options and more.
Track time effectively
Alternate Timer is a beneficial time tracking and management tool that’s ideal for those working remotely or when charging/paying by the hour. It’s a very simple program that’s free to use on Windows devices. Why not download the free app and give it a try?
