Satscape: Track Satellites on Your Desktop

Satscape is a cross-platform application that allows users to track over 8,000 satellites and debris orbiting the Earth in real time. Developed by Satscape, this program provides the opportunity to simulate working for NASA and monitor satellite movements right on your screen. However, the application falls short in delivering a satisfying experience.
Upon launching the Satscape download file, users are prompted to grant unrestricted access to their machines. This requirement may raise security concerns for some users. Once the application is launched, a robotic voice similar to that of Steven Hawking greets users and requests them to configure their settings. However, the process is not particularly clear, leaving users confused.
After minimal configuration, users can choose between a 2D or 3D view to observe the satellites in action. Unfortunately, the available options are limited, with only two satellites to choose from. One of them is labeled ISS, presumably indicating the International Space Station, but no information is provided about the other satellite's purpose.
Overall, Satscape is a technical and confusing application for newcomers to satellite tracking. While it may be useful for TV satellite engineers or individuals seeking to make contact with satellites, it lacks enjoyment and interest for the general user. Unless you have a specific interest in tracking satellites and are willing to persevere through the complexities, Satscape may not be the ideal option.
