Fathzer has developed Yapbam, an open-source, cross-platform and portable program. This free software is compatible with Windows 7 up to 10 and is available in English, French, Portuguese and German.

It’s a straightforward, personal bank account manager. You can use it to synchronise your information between multiple computers. It works with Dropbox, even if you don’t have it installed on your Windows PC. Advanced users can extend its functionality with plugins. Other syncing utilities include Resilio Sync and Sync Manager. 

Yapbam features

Yapbam allows you to import online statements or bank transactions from your previous account manager. You can use the entry wizard to input your transactions and let it generate periodical transactions, like taxes and salaries. It builds a balance history using your transaction data and warns you if you’re going into a negative balance. 

You can view your data in the budget view or look at charts based on different expense categories. It also has a convenient currency converter connected to the official European Central Bank (ECB) rates.

How to enter transactions

Entering transactions is a simple process where you enter the relevant information into the provided fields. The fields are Account, Date, Amount, Category (for expenses) and Value Date. The Mode field lets you specify the type of transaction, like banker’s order, credit card or transfer. You can also insert an account number and attach a statement. 

You can see your current, final and checked balances at the bottom when viewing all your transactions. From this view, you can edit, duplicate or delete a transaction or convert any entry to a periodical transaction.

A simple bank manager

You can use Yapbam, a simple bank manager, to keep track of all your transactions and expenses. Additionally, you can import your data from your online statements or your previous manager. It will track all your data and warn you if you have a negative balance. 

The latest release fixes specific bugs, like the app window appearing outside the screen on startup after previously disconnecting a screen and exiting the application. The developer has fixed Open, Save and Export functionality in Java 16 and higher.
