Tasty Planet: Zoology Game Review

Tasty Planet is a multi-faceted franchise of cross-platform, casual games based on various different genres of video gaming. The company was started in Canada as Tasty Play and has grown substantially since then. It now has a strong following on the PC, Nintendo Wii and Xbox Live Arcade. The games themselves are all targeted at younger audiences, so you won't find any violence or overly mature topics in them. Instead, they're fun, family-friendly affairs that will appeal to the whole family, from kids to grandparents.

Among the games on offer, Tasty Planet offers two of the more interesting ones: Mommy's Man (either version) and Bee Fight. The former is a simple, but entertaining text-based game where you try to rescue your kidnapped mother by running up and down ramps and swinging your arms over the edge of cliffs, while her ex-boyfriend tries to grab the infant from you. It's a bit more engaging than it first appears, due to the fact that you are allowed to talk to the ex-boyfriend by pressing the 'A' key repeatedly, which results in him revealing his plans for revenge to you. For anyone who hasn't played the aforementioned title, Bees Vs. Cat is essentially the exact same thing with a new twist: instead of bees, you play cats who are trying to knock each other out of the house with their bare paws!

The second game offered on Tasty Planet involves the popular puzzle-solving genre, known as the 'biologists' mode'. With this game, you have to manipulate a number of objects in order to make it perform certain functions, such as raising the bar of a cage, rotating the wheel on an atomic science laboratory device, et cetera. The difficulty increases rapidly, so it might take some time for you to become comfortable with the different options, but once you have, you'll find that this game can be really addictive - it's possible to get all of the way to the final level before succumbing to temptation and giving up. To top it off, the graphics are a little dull and not altogether unique, but it never hurts to give it a go anyway. Overall, Tasty Planet: Zoology is an enjoyable download with a lot of cute surprises along the way, including the surprise of your own mother's breeding, which will make you think you've been inside a real zoo.
