Cake Mania for Windows

A while back, my brother-in-law was going through some old computer files and one of them was Cake Mania. I was curious so I went into the computer and downloaded it just to see what was inside. To my amazement, there were tons of pop-ups that were extremely annoying and confounded me more than anything else. Was this something that was a ploy by the programmers to make money or was this possibly some sort of spyware?

Some research read here, discovered other suspicious sites linking to Cake Mania, also as an exe file which infects the computer after thorough searching on the net. So, do me a favor and look through all the logs on that computer and look for any signs of spyware or other malware that might have originated from those "freeware games" sites. There's no way of telling which one it came from but when you find one or more, delete them immediately. Also, never trust someone that wants you to put in things like cookies, or what have you etc. Unless you're 100% positive that what they're asking for is needed.

Then again, I didn't think anything of my brother-in-law's computer at the time and I didn't really take much notice until recently when he had a hard drive crash, and we tried to figure it out. Well, after searching through the various online forums that are floating around, I found out that Cake Mania was behind the crashes and had to be the reason for it. The fact that he didn't have a working computer for over six months was also a contributing factor. Therefore, I warn you not to trust anyone that wants you to put stuff on your computer because these sites are filled with malware and other nasty things.
