Ultimate Ninja Storm Review
After a year of anticipation, the Ultimate Ninja Storm series finally releases on the PSP in North America. The game is based on the popular arcade series that originated in Japan and follows the life of Ninja Skywalker (which could easily be interpreted as the son of Anakin Skywalker, if you like!) As in any traditional fighting game, the player will have to train his/herself by learning various moves, mastering special attacks, and how to seamlessly mix attacks and weapons. You'll also need to learn how to protect yourself from enemies, juggling your weapons with precision timing, and how to make the most of each situation. You'll be amazed by just how much this game plays out just like the original, and it will give you hours of highly entertaining action that you'll want to sink more time into.
On the surface, the controls for this game are fairly simple. You have two buttons which activate the screen shakes, the R button to speed things up, and the L button to slow them down. There are also special items that you can purchase, which greatly help you in your battle against the evil villains and these include items like the Karate Master and Dark Smelter. However, there are enough extras that make this version worth the money - items like the Double Strike, which allow you to strike twice as fast, and the Dodge move which can deflect incoming damage back at your enemy.
Playing the game is quite fun and exciting, and it really helps you understand the characters and their back stories better. From the start you get to know the various situations that will arise throughout the course of the game, and the game progresses according to the storyline, from there. It's a great example of a first person shooter with excellent animation and fantastic physics, something that many other games tend to miss. The story is full of adventure, excitement, comedy, and pure fun. Anyone looking for an entertaining, addictive game that's both fun and educational should definitely give this game a try.
