Tweetz Desktop is a small, lightweight tool, which allows you to connect with your Twitter account and view posts and tweets directly from your desktop.
The app is a Windows widget, so you can enable it from the OS’s gadget menu. It has been designed to have a minimal interface, which does not take up too much real estate on your desktop. However, if you need a larger area to view your feed, you can change it to any custom size you need.
Tweetz Desktop is also fairly configurable in other ways too. You can adjust the font size and brightness from the ‘Options’ menu. You can also alter the default setting for masked URLs.
Tweetz Desktop has some audio alarms that can be set for status changes, mentions and private messages. In addition you are also able to set the time interval at which the app refreshes. By default, the Home page is set to refresh at two minute intervals, the mentions page at four minute intervals and private messages at six minute intervals.
Overall, Tweetz Desktop is a simple app with standard features. That being said, it is a convenient alternative to using the Twitter home page as it is easy to use and has a crisp interface.
This release fixes a long standing problem where tweetz wakes up the screen after it automatically shuts off as directed by the user’s power settings.
