ThreatFire: Monitor your PC for suspicious activity
ThreatFire, previously known as CyberHawk, is a pre-emptive anti-spyware monitoring tool that aims to protect you from malware before it gets anywhere near your system. It does this by monitoring the behavior of your PC in real-time to check for strange or irregular behavior. This method supposedly offers faster protection as you don't need to wait for an antivirus signature file to be updated, as with conventional antivirus programs.
However, ThreatFire can interpret any kind of new behavior on your PC as a threat, and it can be rather annoying to get warnings and prompts every time you install a new piece of software. However, you can configure it to "trust" certain activity to minimize these annoying messages.
ThreatFire not only monitors your PC in real-time but also allows you to schedule scans. Unfortunately, there is no progress bar during scanning, so you won't know how far along the scan is. Additionally, fully closing down the program can be challenging as it continues to run in your taskbar even after closing the window.
Overall, ThreatFire provides proactive protection against spyware by monitoring your PC for suspicious activity. However, its tendency to interpret normal use as "threatening" and the lack of a progress bar during scanning may be drawbacks for some users.
