Comp-3 Interactive has developed a haunting adventure for PlayStation (or PS1) emulators titled The Keeper. This game is another ‘name your price’ entry that you can get for free. It was also a submission at the Haunted PS1 Summer of Shivers 2021 Game Jam.
Players find themselves alone on a deserted island with only a lighthouse; they’re left to solve a mystery. PlayStation fans will no doubt enjoy the feel of this game. Other similar titles that players will find interesting include ‘make sure it’s closed’, Haunted Warehouse and Game Late at Night.
Created for PSX, played for fun
The Keeper, created with Unity technology, can be found on itch.io. There are several videos about this game on YouTube. Players can download copies of The Keeper for Windows, Linux or Mac OS.
The 3D graphics in this game have a professional quality to them. Gamers will find the story to be surprisingly deep and really emotional. Many players have lauded The Keeper for its melancholy tone and rewarding storyline. Comp-3 Interactive has also been praised for its attention to detail and the overall quality of their games.
After you’ve installed the game, you can click on the lighthouse icon to start the game. The menu is easy to navigate for any player.
Ghostly action
Learning to play The Keeper only requires a short learning curve, as all the movement keys are clustered together in a workable fashion. The game begins on a boat when the central character realizes he has fallen asleep. The first task is to figure out what to do next, which is getting to shore. Once players navigate the boat back to shore, the real adventure begins. Ghosts, letters and foggy darkness characterise this journey.
Light journey
The Keeper gives players a high-quality experience in the world of PS1 emulator games. As a game crafted with a 3D environment, it will remind players of classic PlayStation experiences.
Of all its features, the dark tones and unsettling atmosphere deserve the most praise. It may have retro graphics, but it’s still incredibly appealing.
