Free version of a DVD decrypter
DVDFab Passkey Lite is a free Windows app that lets you unprotect encrypted movie DVDs and Blu-ray discs. It also removes geographic restrictions from DVDs so you can watch them anywhere. Passkey Lite makes it easy to rip DVDs and Blu-ray discs.
DVD and Blu-ray protections are updated from time to time, but the Passkey Lite doesn’t keep up with them, so you’ll sometimes find that you can’t decrypt or copy some of the discs in your collection. The solution is to invest in the full version of Passkey, or an alternative such as WinX DVD Ripper Platinum or WonderFox DVD Ripper Speedy.
For DVDs, Passkey Lite can remove four of the eleven most common protections. For Blu-ray discs, it can remove lower-level protections, and alter the region settings for few DVD player programs.
What kind of protection does Passkey Lite remove?
Is it legal to own Passkey Lite?
Yes, it’s completely legal to own it and to use it for copying or ripping media as long as you don’t circumvent any DRM (Digital Rights Management) protections on the discs.
How do I install Passkey Lite?
To ensure that you don’t end up with PUPs (potentially unwanted programs), download Passkey Lite from only reputable sites.
Once it’s downloaded, open the file, and when Windows asks you if it’s ok for the program to make changes to your PC, answer in the affirmative. When the Passkey splash screen appears, click on ‘Install’.
How do I remove Passkey Lite?

Remove protection levels
This free version of DVDFab Passkey works well enough, so it’s easy to recommend. However, as it’s not kept updated with the latest protection codes, it gradually becomes less useful.
If you see it as a free trial, you won’t be disappointed. The paid version carries a 30-day refund guarantee, so there’s no risk.
