Virtual private network for PCs

AVG Secure VPN is a virtual private network software that adds another layer of security to your online activity. The AVG VPN is a cross-platform application that is available on Android, Apple iOS, Mac, and Microsoft Windows PC desktops and mobile phone devices. While AVG offers a free trial, you will need to buy the subscription after a limited period of time.

What is AVG Secure VPN?

AVG Secure VPN will encrypt your connection to make sure that your confidential data is kept completely safe from hackers while you are on a private or public Wi-Fi network. Additionally, it will change your IP address to make sure that you are not being unwillingly tracked by HTTP cookies and websites.

You can avoid targeted advertisements by using the utility. You can connect to international VPN servers to unblock websites that are restricted within your country. A list of over 50 server locations that deliver streaming can be found within the “Streaming” tab in the server section of the user interface. While this software allows you to play Netflix, users have reported that other streaming services are not available, such as Amazon Prime Video and Hulu.

How do I use AVG Secure VPN?

The VPN service has a kill switch button to let you immediately block an unsafe interruption from escalating. You can turn the kill switch on by marking the box next to “Activate Kill Switch” within the “Network Security” tab in the settings. This VPN does not include a lot of customisation options.

AVG Secure VPN works with up to a total of 10 devices at the same time. The tool has a military-level encryption status of 256-bit AES standard to make sure that your information is not traced. The user interface has a simple design; you can easily turn on the VPN by clicking the button at the top of the screen.

You will see the current location that is set for your server within the center of the UI. If you want to change the destination, then you can tap the “Change location” link beneath the country and city name. A window will appear to let you scroll through lists of international servers: All, Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East, and more.

Can AVG be trusted?

While the AVG Secure VPN app delivers highly secure encryption levels, the system will still log your information: operating system, software version, and the like. Although the amount of private information that AVG logs may not be as much as most free VPN applications, you can still download and install other VPN apps that have better a privacy policy and fewer logs like ExpressVPN and NordVPN.

Another aspect that makes AVG less desirable is the lack of customer support options. While you can call the customer service phone number, the website does not offer a live chat to let you quickly get help with issues.

Does AVG have a free VPN?

AVG Secure VPN is based on a subscription model that gives a temporary free trial to try before you will need to purchase the program. It does not require you to enter your payment information into the system to access the trial. Free VPN applications can be risky to use because the platforms often log your information.

This VPN is owned by the antivirus software company Avast. Additionally, Avast is responsible for the products: Avast Secureline VPN and HMA VPN. ExpressVPN and NordVPN are two of the best paid VPN alternatives to AVG Secure VPN.

ExpressVPN delivers the best user experience because of the easy-to-use interface. Additionally, ExpressVPN is known to have the quickest internet connection speeds available. While Express is completely anonymous and safe to use, NordVPN delivers optimal safety with the double protection feature that masks your IP address twice instead of only once. If you use Nord, then you may trade speed and simplicity for security.

Is AVG Secure VPN any good?

While AVG Secure VPN may not have the worst VPN review, the platform can improve protocols: customer support, privacy policy, and more. It will protect your personal information by encrypting your VPN connection. Additionally, your IP address will remain anonymous. You can choose from plenty of international servers to simulate the location of Canada, the Czech Republic, Japan, Malaysia, among others.

The developers deliver new software updates on a consistent basis. Previous versions have increased the number of available devices, locations, and more features. The installation is available for Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP operating systems.
