Free racing game for Windows
Wheelie Life 2 is a free racing game for Android by developer ak.dev. The idea behind the title is to perform tricks on your motorbike while you race across different tracks. Unlike Real Bike Racing and Street Bike Racing 3D, the action is oriented towards stunts and tricks rather than racing with your bike.
That doesn’t mean the tracks aren’t challenging - there are numerous obstacles you need to negotiate. You can also play with friends online, which is a good feature because the tracks can feel pretty lonely. Even though this is the second iteration of Wheelie Life, this version is worlds apart from the original.
In a motorbike game, two things are to be expected: eye candy and a good physics engine. The good part of Wheelie Life 2 is that it satisfies both. Graphics are in 3D and look good for an Android title, even though the scenery is quite boring.
Good graphics and realistic physics
The physics are very well replicated, and the handling of your bike feels real enough. This is especially important when performing tricks and stunts.
Simple controls
As you might imagine, the idea here is to ride your bike, pull a wheelie for as long as possible, and perform other tricks. This is achieved by a straightforward and intuitive control interface that’s always present on-screen.
There are only five buttons to control your bike and perform the different manoeuvres. There are two further buttons – one to toggle between first and third-person view, and another to pause the game. . The controls themselves are simple enough, but the buttons are rather big. Although they’re translucent, they take up a good chunk of the screen area and can be distracting.
A fantastic sequel and an okay standalone
Especially when comparing its predecessor, Wheelie Life 2 is significantly better. The developer has transformed the game into a first-person 3D experience with entirely different gameplay. It’s also laser-targeted on doing tricks, a fresh take on the genre.
However, there’s a lot of room for improvement. Graphics, in general, are good, but the environment looks dated, and the bikes don’t have many customisation options. There are also issues when performing some tricks, and there are no quests or campaign modes. More content would go a long way into making this title recommendable over other, more polished ones.
