Free prank game
Finger Cut is a free prank game by developer Jan Mazurczak. Even though it’s for entertainment purposes, it’s not a real game like Scary Teacher 3D; it’s more like Bomb It and FB Password Hacker (Prank) because the idea is to have fun with friends and some quick laughs.
The basic premise of this app is that you cut your finger, and blood is spilt all over the place. However, the ingenious part is that thanks to the use of Augmented Reality features, the blood looks like it’s being spilt all over the environment you’re currently in.
The premise of Finger Cut is pretty straightforward. There’s a circular saw on the screen, and the app captures your surroundings via the camera on your smartphone. If you touch the saw, blood starts gushing from your virtual wound. This means you’ll see blood splashing on your walls or furniture.
Clever use of AR
Its loud noises are scary, and it’s perfect for Halloween or playing games with your friends, thanks to the AR feature. You can set your own rules, such as one being a demented maniac cutting others’ fingers. It allows a lot of room for creativity.
Okay graphics
Because Finger Cut uses your camera, you’d expect graphics to be top-notch. That, of course, depends on your phone camera. However, since most phones have at least decent cameras, the setting will look lifelike.
It’s a shame that the circular saw and blood aren’t very realistic. You can see jagged, pixelated edges on the saw, and the blood looks like someone using a sponge tool in a painting app. There’s no dripping and no surface detection, either. Sometimes, the same flaw occupies furniture or wall corners at different angles without changing its appearance accordingly. Certainly not physics-based.
Ideal for fun with friends
Finger Cut is a great way to enhance a Halloween party or any other event with friends. It shows that AR isn’t just a high-tech concept available for top-budget apps. The app is as simple as it gets and successfully uses your environment and phone to bring a lot of fun.
It’s not perfect by any means, and true horror fans might find graphics to be somewhat disappointing. However, it’s not meant to be a “cutting simulator.” It’s also slightly boring after a while if you just stick to the app. However, it’ll be rewarding enough if you’ve got plenty of imagination when setting your own rules.
