Sodium Mod - Does it Work With Green Portal?

The Sodium Mod is easily the tested and trusted best FPS increasing mod on the internet, and helps greatly with some visual and lighting issues (making things look a lot better). It normally about four times faster than Optifine, which is an excellent mod that helps with all aspects of playing the game. However, I would not recommend Sodium for the average Jellysquid user who wants something that is better performing and can also improve visuals and overall quality of the game. It is still my preference to use the best mod out there rather than go for the one that looks the coolest or is the most popular.

What does Sodium do in Minecraft mods?

Sodium Mod changes how Minecraft processes graphics. It boosts performance without sacrificing the quality of the game. The mod automatically enables optimizations based on what your system can handle. This ensures you get the best performance possible. Sodium also fixes many old graphical issues in Minecraft. This helps the game look better. Additionally, the mod works well with other mods like Lithium and Phosphor. This allows players to tailor their optimization based on their system's needs and preferences. If you're experiencing lag in Minecraft, this mod is essential for enjoying a smooth and visually improved game.

How to install Sodium Mod in Minecraft

The way to install sodium mod is to download the mod from their website and then place it in your "My Documents" folder. If you don't have this folder, it's easy to get it by right clicking on the mod, then "Extract All". Next, you need to locate the "Sodium Installer" and double click on it. After that, it will be placed in the location where you last saved it.

Here is a detailed look:

Installing Sodium Mod is straightforward, especially for users familiar with Minecraft mods:

  1. Ensure you have Fabric Loader installed as Sodium requires it to function.
  2. Download the Sodium Mod file.
  3. Place the downloaded file into your Minecraft mods folder.
  4. Launch Minecraft and check the Video Settings menu to confirm the installation.

With these steps, players can easily integrate Sodium into their Minecraft setup and begin enjoying enhanced game performance immediately.

System requirements

To ensure optimal performance with Sodium Mod, your system should meet the following hardware requirements:

  • Graphics Card Compatibility: Supports OpenGL 4.6, covering most cards released in the last 12 years:
    • INTEL HD Graphics 500 Series (Skylake) or newer.
    • NVIDIA GeForce 400 Series (Fermi) or newer.
    • AMD Radeon HD 7000 Series (GCN 1) or newer.
  • Driver Updates: Keeping graphics drivers up-to-date is crucial for preventing crashes and resolving rendering bugs and performance issues.

While older graphics cards with OpenGL 3.3 support may work, they are not officially supported and might face compatibility issues with future updates of Sodium.

There are other ways to increase your frames per second (FRs), but I feel like sodium mod is a great one to start with if you want something that's pretty straightforward and doesn't require a lot of technical knowledge to get going. I've been using it for a while now, and so far I haven't had any graphical issues. It has helped me with a lot of "mysterious" issues like teleporting through portals after dying, portals that stay open when you're dead, portals that can't be used anymore after being spawned at, lag that doesn't seem to go away, etc.
