Gamma Panel for Windows is a free, lightweight app for optimising the light/dark balance of your PC monitor. Whether you work in a creative industry with photos or videos or are an avid gamer, with this app you will be able to see the necessary details on your monitor.
Getting the balance right can be tricky, but Gamma Panel offers two ways of quickly adjusting the gamma settings for the content on your monitor. Either way, it’s easy to use, even if you’re in the middle of a fast-paced game. DimScreen is another program you can use with the same features.
What is gamma in settings?
The gamma setting of an image determines how much detail can be seen. If the gamma is too low, everything is too bright and shadows are washed out. Conversely, if the gamma is too high, everything is too dark, especially shadows. In either case, you lose definition from your image which makes it difficult to see detail in some areas.
What is gamma colour correction?
Gamma correction is the manipulation of the coding found in all digital images (still images and video). Usually, the default gamma values in visual media are set at a level that represents the way the human eye perceives colour. We see a range of colour and shade in everything we look at, and usually, the default colour setting is adequate.
Gamma colour correction is used when connecting a computer with one gamma setting to a monitor with a different one. Gamma correction ensures that what you see is balanced.
What is Gamma Panel?
Gamma Panel is a free app that makes it easy to adjust the gamma for the media displayed on your screen. You can adjust the gamma in your image or video content from the taskbar or by using the hot-key feature. The latter facility is particularly useful if you’re playing a game and don’t want to switch to a different app just to adjust the colour.
Adjust your perspective
Gamma Panel is a straightforward app that helps you get the most from your digital content and gaming. The taskbar access is handy, but the hotkey operation is especially beneficial if you need to modify the properties of your screen when an application is already running.
If you don’t need a program as sophisticated as Gamma Panel, DimScreen is a simpler option. It has ten brightness settings, and you don’t even need to install it: you download it and leave it in a convenient folder. When you need it, you just right-click the icon.
