D-STAR network control
Doozy connects supported Icom radios to internet-based D-STAR networks through a computer or mobile device. It manages communication between radio hardware and D-STAR reflector systems, supporting connections through DEXTRA, DCS, and XLX infrastructures.
Doozy handles reflector selection, routing commands, connection status monitoring, and call sign management while the attached radio processes the voice traffic. Communication can occur through USB or Bluetooth, depending on the supported platform and radio model. The utility operates through a radio's native Terminal Mode functions rather than an internal modem, allowing network access without relying on a separate hotspot device or external gateway hardware.
Doozy maintains active connections with multiple D-STAR reflector networks through a centralized control interface. Routing commands are transmitted between the software and the attached radio, allowing reflector linking, disconnection, and destination changes during operation. Status information remains visible throughout a session, including current network targets and connection activity. It concentrates on session management and reflector routing, while the connected radio handles voice transmission tasks.
Reflector routing
The software stores call sign routing data and applies it during network registration and connection procedures. Native Terminal Mode communication allows supported radios to exchange network traffic through the software without requiring a separate hotspot. Connection management remains tied to specific D-STAR infrastructures, including DEXTRA, DCS, and XLX systems. Legacy DPLUS reflector support is absent, reflecting the software's focus on currently supported network environments rather than older reflector architectures.
Hardware support remains limited to a small group of compatible Icom radios that provide native Terminal Mode functionality. Models such as the IC-705, ID-50 series, ID-52 series, and IC-9700 form the primary hardware base for operation. The Android edition further narrows support by focusing on the ID-52 Plus through Bluetooth connectivity. It does not include support for DMR, System Fusion, P25, or other digital voice ecosystems outside the D-STAR environment.
Icom connector
Doozy centers on D-STAR reflector connectivity, call sign routing, session management, and network control through supported Icom radios. Its feature set covers DEXTRA, DCS, and XLX infrastructures while relying on native Terminal Mode communication instead of a built-in modem. Its limitations include support for a narrow range of compatible Icom hardware, the absence of DPLUS connectivity, and a lack of support for digital voice standards outside the D-STAR ecosystem.
