Despotism 3k: A Resource Manager with Roguelike Elements
Despotism 3k is a strategy game developed by Konfa Games for Windows. In this game, you are on the side of an artificial intelligence that has enslaved humanity and must manipulate humans to produce the energy needed for the machines. As the player, you must ensure that the humans do not die of hunger or fatigue while also recycling their spares in a bioreactor at any moment.
The game features black humor and full immersion in being a soulless despot. The resource manager is on steroids, and your decisions have to be fast, precise, and merciless. The game is a roguelite with random event generation, and every loss is fatal, forcing the player to start again. The gameplay is easy to understand, thanks to a detailed step-by-step tutorial, but it is hard to achieve victory. Despotism 3k is a project that got started at Ludum Dare 39 and is now being turned into the game of our dreams.
