Clash Royale is a free online strategy card game developed by Supercell. This addictive tower defence game boasts short matches and addictive gameplay. It presents players with the chance to climb the leaderboards and become top-ranked players.
Clash Royale is of the same genre as Clash of Clans, but with card game elements reminiscent of Hearthstone. As this game is mobile-exclusive, you’ll need to get an emulator such as Bluestacks to run it on your PC. With millions of active players and short queue times, this is the perfect game to play in-between meetings or classes.
Gameplay
Before each game of Clash Royale, you’ll have to decide on one of your three active decks. This sets the scene for what units you’re able to purchase during the game. Of course, you can never be sure who you’re going to go against, so be prepared for the different strategies someone might employ.
The game’s objective is to destroy the enemy’s towers, or at the very least, destroy more towers than the enemy before the time runs out.
Set up a deck
Each card costs a different amount, so you’ll have to set up your decks carefully so you don’t lose due to lack of a strategy. There are high cost and high offence characters, as well as low cost, low offence characters. The same applies to defence. Choose wisely.
You can spawn both units and buildings. You’ll also be able to use spells against your enemy. Use them well and you’ll ruin your opponent’s plans.
Progress
As you level up, you’ll unlock different arenas. You’ll also slowly level up your cards. What's unfortunate, however, is that players can technically ‘pay to win’ by purchasing a subscription that helps players progress faster.
You may find that, as a lower-level player, the game may match you with AI to boost matching speed.
Competitive fun
If you’re into these types of competitive games, are up for a challenge, or are looking for a game to play when you have some time to pass, then Clash Royale is a game you’ll enjoy. It’s a lot of fun and highly addictive to match with other people. Also, the developers frequently update the game, so keep your eyes open for news.
