Space Racing for Windows is a free science fiction racing game based on the traditional Formula One racing games. The stakes are high because you're a prisoner and your only way of going free is to win the race over eight courses.
It's not easy, because every course is laden with danger. You'll have to dodge these too as your competitors try to ram you. What is Space Racing?
In the year 2560, humanity has spread throughout the universe and established mutually-beneficial commercial relationships with the inhabitants of many planets. However, the billionaires have become bored, so they created a new way to be entertained.

Space Racing is based on the old Formula One races, but now, it’s spaceships that compete instead of cars. Of course, the billionaires aren't going to risk their own lives, so the pilots are prisoners who will be set free if they win.
How to play
You must finish in third place or above in every single race, otherwise you won’t get to advance. Although your competitors are trying to end your race prematurely, your ship is fitted with a shield system that will withstand multiple impacts. You can recharge your shield in one of the fast pit areas, but remember, pulling over could cost you valuable seconds in the race.
There's also a boost system you can use once for each lap, but you also have to be careful with that. If you lose control of your ship and crash it, you'll lose time and a life. You have three lives and once you've used them all, it's Game Over for you.

Our take
Regardless of its futuristic setting, Space Racing is a slice of old-school fun. It wears its heritage on its sleeve and even retains ZX Spectrum style graphics to emphasise it.
Plenty of thought has gone into the track hazards and the various boosts you can get, so this spaceship racing game is a great way to pass some time and enjoy the thrill of the race.
