Free flight simulator
Juki has developed the free game Fly Dangerous, aimed at Elite Dangerous racing fans. The title is still in development and compatible with various Windows operating systems. It uses configurable controls and was built using Unity.
Since racing isn’t accessible in Elite Dangerous, Fly Dangerous provides a simulated flight model with short sessions. It also gives you tools to track leaderboards, ghosts and more. Another alternative flight simulation game is Microsoft Flight Simulator X for Windows.

Fly Dangerous provides an infinite terrain generator and a single race map for testing. It’s a challenging game with no tutorials but it does offer the option to switch to flight help mode.

Game features
The race tracks in this game are short and challenging and even takes you back to the original starting point if you fail. You can pick from several environments to race.
The flight assistant acts as a meta-input layer. This means that it takes the player’s input and provides information to the ship to reach your goals. This functionality makes it impossible for players to cheat.
Timed trials show you a countdown before they start. By letting you boost up to one second before the timer starts, you can take off almost at full speed. The boost charge mechanics penalise you for successive boosts, which requires strategic decisions about when you use this feature.
What lies ahead?
Future updates will incorporate various flight stick options. Fly Dangerous will feature free play flight and let you record and share racetracks. The primary time trail maps will feature sprints and laps and will add a basic multiplayer mode. The leaderboards will offer automatic replay and ghost uploads via Steam too.
