Guard your files
Encrypto is a desktop file-encryption utility that provides local password-based protection for files and folders. The application packages selected data into an AES-256-encrypted container and outputs a standalone encrypted file. Operation is handled through a drag-and-drop processing window and a password-entry module that embeds verification data within the encrypted package.
Encrypto also stores a password hint in its AES-256-encrypted payload and generates new encrypted files without altering the originals. Operating entirely offline, it processes data locally and requires neither an account nor a network connection. This makes it a straightforward, private utility for securing folders and files via a simple drag-and-drop interface.
Encrypto’s encryption workflow is handled through a single-window interface where files or folders are loaded into the processing pane. When a password is entered, the system derives an encryption key and generates an encrypted archive file with a dedicated extension. The original source files remain unchanged unless manually removed. The program performs full-file encryption rather than block-level or incremental encryption and does not mount encrypted data as a virtual drive.
No account needed security
The password module includes an embedded password hint field stored alongside encrypted metadata inside the container. This hint is readable before decryption, but does not expose the key itself. No password-recovery mechanism or key-escrow system is implemented. If the password is lost, the encrypted payload cannot be restored through built-in tooling. The software does not support multi-key access or certificate-based encryption modes.
Encrypted output files can be transferred via external channels, such as email attachments, removable storage, and cloud synchronization folders, because the tool exports a self-contained encrypted package. A built-in file packaging module wraps folders into a single encrypted output rather than preserving directory structures externally. However, the utility lacks batch or automation support, meaning processing is performed one job at a time via the manual graphical user interface.
Desktop protection
Encrypto runs on macOS and Windows and performs local password-based container encryption using AES-256. It generates standalone encrypted files, embeds password hints, and leaves original data unchanged during processing. The system operates without network services or account layers. It does not include recovery keys, batch queues, command-line controls, or multi-account key support. All encryption and decryption operations occur through a single desktop interface.

- Standalone encrypted output files
- Embedded password hint metadata
- Offline local processing only
Cons
