Free hardware analyzer for Windows
CPU-Z for Windows is a troubleshooting tool to identify PC hardware problems. You’re provided with information such as the CPU type, processing power, number of cores, architecture, clock speed, RAM and GPU details in a table format. You can scroll up and down the table to read the details of your OS systems in one convenient, centralized place.
This app is free to download for Windows and Android devices. Other hardware monitoring alternatives with similar diagnostic features include Aida64, Core Temp, Speccy, HWiNFO, HWMonitor and MSI Afterburner.
This freeware gathers information about your Windows system for you. It would help if you had a bit of technical knowledge to understand the data displayed, but most of it is self-explanatory. If you would like to set the parameters for this app, you’ll need a configuration file, cpuz.ini, in the same directory as the cpuz.exe file.

Processor analytics
The app will provide you with processor-related technical information which includes name and vendor, core stepping and process, package, internal and external clocks, clock multiplier and partial overclock detection. The processor analytics also includes detecting the core voltage, L2 bus width and offers support for two processors in Windows NT or 2000, memory timing and instructions sets.
Other analytics
The mainboard analytics that's monitored include the vendor, model and revision, BIOS model and date, Chipset (northbridge and southbridge) and sensor, and the graphic interface in use.
You’ll see the frequency, timings and timing tables in the memory analytics section along with module specifications using the Serial Presence Detect feature. Additionally, you’ll be able to see if your PC is running a Windows and DirectX version. The analytics for your graphics include the interface version, link width, maximum supported and sideband. The app also indicates the cache descriptor, size and speed.
Other Features
With the CPU-Z app, you can start and reset timers, run benchmarks and stress tests for the CPU and select the processor reference. Save your preferred information in reports and validate the authenticity of your current system settings against the public CPU-Z database.
