Free customisation tool for Windows

Winaero Tweaker is a free customisation tool for Windows systems, developed by Sergey Tkachenko and available since 2011. This app allows you to personalise your desktop settings beyond the scope of what Microsoft allows. It not only allows for cosmetic changes but also modifies how certain elements work.
This app works similarly to Tweak UI for Windows from Microsoft itself, by offering improvements over the original OS. Still, it also does it like Windows Password Recovery Tool Ultimate, offering features that wouldn’t be possible without it. It has a perfect user interface, where you can efficiently perform changes even if you’re not tech-savvy.
Visual modifications galore
Winaero Tweaker offers too many modifications to mention them all. Still, some highlights include removing the “Add to favourites” option in the context menu when right-clicking, the “Learn about this picture” feature from Windows Spotlight, and most importantly, the ability to stack icons in the taskbar.
It also makes changes to the RAM display. It’s now in GB instead of KB, which has been an annoyance for users over the last two decades.
Many usability improvements
All tweaks from Winaero Tweaker, including the more graphics-related ones, improve Windows usability to some extent. However, there are specific items to improve your Windows experience in clever ways. For instance, it allows you to disable download blocking and skip rebooting after updating.
A great addition to Windows’ abilities is that you can activate the recycle bin for removable devices such as a USB drive. This exciting feature is a lifesaver, and it’s a surprise that Microsoft doesn’t enable it by default.
The essential toolkit for power users
Some people are overwhelmed with what Windows OSs offer. But if you’re an avid user, you’ll soon discover its many limitations. They can become frustrating, especially when you need to perform the same action repeatedly, only to find the same roadblocks.
Winaero Tweaker has enough features to modify Windows in meaningful ways. It helps to untap a lot of hidden potential and to improve in places where Microsoft got it wrong. The easy-to-use interface means anyone can experiment with its features and disable them with a simple menu. It’s an excellent tool that gets regular updates and will keep bringing many needed improvements to Microsoft operating systems.
