Free weapon-drawing game
Draw Edge is a free lightsabre-themed action game for Android mobile devices from Supersonic Studios. Your mission in the game is to rescue a succession of citizens. However, to do so, you'll have to get through the enemies that are blocking your path.
They're coming at you with weapons swinging, so you'll have to get yourself suitably armed quickly. Fortunately, you can draw the right-shaped weapon to get the job done. If you enjoy interactive games that allow you to draw as part of the gameplay Doodle Date and Scribble Rider are also worth checking out.
At each level of the game, you find yourself atop a high platform, confronted by one or more enemies. They’re there to prevent you from releasing their prisoner who's locked in a cage suspended high above the ground.
Your objective
How to play
Without seeing your enemy’s weapon in advance, you draw a line on the drawing pad that appears on the screen, in the hope that it will help you flick the enemy off the field. As soon as you've drawn your weapon, the battle begins.
Now, you need to use the on-screen direction control to force your opponent off the edge of a platform. Be careful, though, because they're trying to do the same to you.
Levels
Each level has four stages, with the final one having you confront a boss you have to get past to make the rescue. Every level has a different background, where you'll have to navigate your surroundings as you do battle.
Rewards
Every time you complete a stage, you earn in-game coins that you can use to customise your character’s appearance and weapons.
Our take
For a free time-filler, Draw Edge has enough going for it in terms of gameplay. We particularly like the in-game haptics that causes your device to vibrate slightly when the coins you've won fly in.
We all understand that most free apps will include advertising, but for us, Draw Edge is too heavy on it. It almost felt like we were spending more time waiting for adverts to finish, or waiting to be able to dismiss them than actually playing the game.
