Free mod for Quake

Quake Reignited is a free mod by Boondorl for the shooter Quake. Despite being launched in 1996, Quake is still very popular among gamers, and tons of mods are available. Some add new settings, while others improve textures or gameplay elements. In this action-oriented mod, changes are focused on the weapons and the enemy AI.
Even though the maps and enemies you encounter remain the same, its additions make the experience very exciting and more challenging. However, it’s balanced so you get some upgrades - but so do your enemies. For additional Quake-like experiences on a Windows device, check the latest iteration, Quake 4, or The Age of Hell.
Bigger guns and gameplay changes
The first major change in Quake Reignited is the guns. They’re mainly rebalanced to add more damage, with additional penalties so they don’t become too powerful. For example, the shotgun has more damage, but the fire rate is reduced.
There are also some changes in the overall game. Maximum health is now 200, and quadruple damage has been reduced to triple damage. All these changes are aimed at making the game more challenging. Some additional items have also undergone changes. The armour is more straightforward now, since the mod puts more emphasis on the amount you have and not the type. The Pentagram’s duration has been reduced, and the Ring has also changed a little, making it a partial invisibility power-up.
Reworked AI and meaner enemies
Of course, enemies also became deadlier. The AI has been improved on Quake Reignited, making them more intelligent with extra abilities, such as firing around corners. Changes were also made to some individual enemies too. For example, Death Knights now always charge-attack.
All of these changes make Nightmare difficulty especially challenging. You’ll need to adopt new strategies to defeat the monsters, while also taking into account the rebalanced weapons.
Hardcore fans have another reason to come back
If you’ve been playing Quake since its inception, it may have started to feel old. This mod breathes new life into the game by completely rebalancing the gameplay in ways that force a different playing style. However, it’s pretty difficult for beginners and even veterans, who might be accustomed to certain playing styles. The weapons can also feel overpowered, and the enemies are sometimes just too aggressive.
However challenging, all the elements work together well. However, if you’ve never played Quake before, it’s recommended to play the original, unmodded game first to get some experience before tackling this mod.
