Zoo Tycoon: Marine Mania expands on the success of the first game in many ways. For example, unlike the first version of Zoo Tycoon where a marine biologist was always needed for research projects, the second game introduces a new character, a marine biologist yourself, who needs to complete research projects to unlock more options and power ups for the game. The maps are also bigger, adding a lot more variety to your travels around the island. Plus, there are new animals and plants to deal with, including a few animals that only appeared in the first game. Overall, this expansion is much better than the original, and it doesn't really feel like a remake, even though it does contain elements of the original game as well.
Like the first part of the franchise, Zoo Tycoon: Marine Mania gives you lots of tools for managing your zoo and is introducing new ones along the way. New animals, expanded facilities, improved layouts... everything you need to create thriving marine environments can be found, and you can use the facilities to attract more aquatic creatures. Plus, all the other things you learn in the earlier games can be applied here, giving you a lot more potential for earning money. Zoo Tycoons have been loved by fans since the first version, and they continue to please with this expansion. This version gives you an improved experience, one that will stand out among the similar tycoon games to come out.
