Explanations & Trivia

"VivaVivaVivaVivaViva," is the first game developed by Interplay. It was published in December of 2009 and was inspired by the hit anime series "The Matrix." The basic concept behind VVVVVV was to bring an element of fun and creativity to the traditional puzzle game. VVVVV features some interesting puzzles and concepts not present in other puzzle games. For example, the puzzles themselves are a continuation of the plot in the anime, meaning that the player will find themselves in the same spot they were in before solving the previous puzzle.

The basic story of VVVVVV takes place in the future, ten years after the events of the anime series. In the future, humankind has made the first successful jump to the moon. On the night of their first successful jump, the crew of the colony became stranded in the VVVVVV and lost their way back to Earth. They were quickly trapped inside the vacuum of space, so they had no way to return to Earth. To make matters worse, a mysterious thief named Viridian stole the VVVVVV code and uses it to commandeer a ship to steal the gold necessary for fertilization and space travel.

This is where the story begins. Captured and trapped in VivaVivaViva, the crew of the colony is desperate to figure out how to get back to Earth. One of the characters, named Pilot, is really confused as he's confused why his mate has disappeared. So he decides to follow the VVVVV source code, which he obtains from a book in the museum. After locating and reading the source code, Pilot realizes what exactly is going on and manages to steal the VVVVV code from the "enemy ship".
