Free server manager
v2rayN is a free server manager for Windows by developer 2dust. At first glance, it may seem similar to software like SQL Server 2019 Express Edition or SolarWinds Network Configuration Manager, but in fact, it’s closer to Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 7 with Service Pack 1. This is because it’s a graphical interface for managing V2Ray servers.
V2Ray servers are used to build a private network of your own, that is, a VPN that might allow you to bypass censorship and access content from any region. v2rayN provides a clean user interface that allows you to check server status, restart the service, and more.
All the features you need
The way v2rayN is designed makes it easy for anyone in the know to manage their servers. There’s a spreadsheet-like window with a menu on the top, where you can change settings, check for updates and subscriptions, and of course, perform various actions with the servers.
It lets you add specific server types such as Socks or Trojan, import bulk URLs, and even scan QR codes. Aside from this, you can test servers with various methods such as tcping, download speed and more.
Pros & Cons
Of course, using v2rayN means you’re using V2Ray. V2Ray is a sub-section of Project V in charge of network protocols and communications, in other words, a proxy. This is pretty complex and it’s a good choice for system administrators and other IT-savvy individuals.
On the plus side, it allows a lot of freedom when it comes to customisation, but on the other hand, the steep learning curve makes it difficult for regular users to take advantage of it. If you’re in the latter group, it’s perhaps best to choose other VPNs.
A solid companion for V2Ray servers
Even though there are other interface tools for V2Ray servers, v2rayN is the most stable and straightforward one. It allows you to simply click on the various menus and options instead of using commands.
The number of actions you can perform will cover most, if not all, of your needs, too. It’s also relatively simple to install and configure, at least for an open-source project. The best of all is that anyone can contribute to it, meaning it’ll only get better in time. If you’re looking for an in-depth solution for your online privacy, look no further.
