SoftPerfect WorldRoute is a useful tool that allows you to easily find out what gateways your data goes through and how fast it travels. It is a simple trace-route app, which shows you the path your network packets take to reach a remote website or server.
To start, you simply enter the hostname or IP address in order to display the route on an embedded Google map display along with the estimated distance in miles and kilometres.
Key Features include:
- Supports both IPv4 and IPv6.
- Displays the IP-address and geographical location of each hop.
- Draws the route on a visually-informative map.
- Measures the distance and the round-trip time.
- Simple UI.
The downside is that SoftPerfect WorldRoute is lacking somewhat in technical accuracy and details, compared to other graphical trace-route apps on the market. Reports state that it only displays a portion of the hops on the map. Also, it doesn’t offer any in depth analytical features for trying to solve connectivity issues. That being said, it is free and the interface is basic and straightforward enough to be navigated by novice users.
