I.RULE is a free tower defense game based on the ever-popular RPG sensation The Binding of Isaac. It could be considered a fan-made The Binding of Isaac experience.
Since The Binding of Isaac is a role-playing game and I.RULE is a tower defence game, they don’t have much in common. If you enjoy I.RULE, however, you might find similar enjoyment in titles like Plants vs. Zombies and Z Revolution.
A touching tribute
I.RULE exists as a touching tribute to honour the incredible effort, time and energy that went into the development of The Binding of Isaac. While this is a tribute, it shares almost no gameplay mechanics with the game it seems to celebrate.
I.RULE should, however, still receive an overwhelming acceptance by the Binding of Isaac community as its art style so closely resembles that of the original game.
Tower defence
If you’re looking for a tower defence game reminiscent of the visual environment of The Binding of Isaac, this is the game for you. However, I.RULE functions so well as a tower defence game both in terms of gameplay and execution that it’s likely to stand out as a favourite amongst die-hard fans of the genre, not just the Binding of Isaac franchise.
Spend your time in-game defending the left-hand side of the screen from a mob of aggressive creatures. Use your own army of defensive creatures to engage in various 1v1 battles across the playing field.
Keep in mind, though, that each defensive unit carries a value equal to various amounts of in-game currency, so think carefully about the units you need. The game is also a good tutor of balance as focussing all your attention on one unit leaves you vulnerable to attack from another. Manage your time, money and defensive units wisely as you attempt to protect your territory.

The I.RULE download link functions on a ‘name your own price’ integrity system. This means you can choose whether you want to pay for the game or download it for free. You can also choose how much you’d like to pay, bearing in mind that any payment is seen as a donation and will likely benefit future projects or updates.
A great tower defence game
Fans of The Binding of Isaac are sure to enjoy this fan-made expression of what the game would look like as a tower defence title. I.RULE also holds its own in this genre, as it’s well-made, challenging and features exciting gameplay elements.
