RunAsUser, developed by Dennis Babkin, is a free utility available for Windows. This tool lets you run a different program under another user account other than the one running it. You can use this software for free indefinitely and can distribute it to other Windows users at your discretion.

RunAsUser is a small utility at just a couple of KBs in size. It’s completely free of any marketing and ads, and is very simple to get running. This program is safe to use and contains no malware.

How it works 

The account that you will log into will be the one that runs all programs. RunAsUser bypasses this by letting you run software using another account. It runs through a command prompt that enables you to add the username and password of the account that you’d like to use. 

You can run it locally through your computer or run it through a user on another server computer. 

Manual

The manual comes with the utility download and explains how the command prompt works, how to know if it’s working and how to use it. For example, to add an account name for a domain controller, you must use the format ‘DOMAN\UserName’.

Scramble passwords

The tool also comes with a link to download ScramblePwd. How this tool works is also explained in detail within the provided manual. It protects you by scrambling the password when you use it in RunAsUser. It’s essentially another layer of security.
