Free app for Covid-19 in Indonesia

PeduliLindungi, created by the Ministry of Communications (MCI), is an app used in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and Taskforce for Covid-19 in Indonesia. The PeduliLindungi app tracks the infection rate by participants’ locations, vaccination records and travel history.
One great aspect of PeduliLindungi is that you can minimise Covid-19 cases by taking appropriate precautions. By adding your location to the app, you can see traces of positive cases, and people who have been vaccinated. Similar apps include GuideSafe, Sehhaty and Covid Defense.
PeduliLindungi features
Download the app and then create an account to use the features and system tracings. You’ll also need to add your personal details like name, mobile phone number, and the time and location of your registration. The app will detect your geographic location so you can feel safe wherever you are.
Digital contact tracing
The PeduliLindungi app uses digital contact tracing. For those who have had Covid-19, it identifies and processes contacts. PeduliLindungi is similar to GuideSafe and Covid Defense that also has tracking systems and a digital contact tracing method. The tracing system allows you to trace whoever is infected, negative, and or vaccinated. You can also add photos and media files to your account.
Privacy
With PeduliLindungi you can collect data while sharing your personal data. The app has great features for your privacy. For your photos and media files, you can cancel and permit access to any photo or files as you wish. The PeduliLindungi health app can link your account to any third-party member. It can only collect and process your data, but it can’t access your data information for your protection.
Help prevent further illness
PeduliLindungi is an invaluable tool to slow down the spread of Covid-19. Naturally, it relies on enough people using it to maximise its effectiveness, so the government encourages the Indonesian population to install the app on their Android devices.
In our opinion, any app that helps society to return to some semblance of normality can only be a good thing. The only drawback that we see with the app is that it’s only available in the Indonesian language, so it may not be accessible to expats who speak another language.
