Where the Demon Lurks, developed by Bokedaidu, is a free demo underworld game for Mac. It’s compatible with Mac OS X and is available in English.
In this visual novel, you’re the brand-new Demon Ruler. You are the ruler over twisted souls in the underworld. After many years of existence, the underworld basically runs by itself. As a result, you, the Demon Ruler, are bored and quest out to meet with other demons and magical creatures to find your purpose. Other similar adventure games for Mac include EXsynchronos and Deepest Sword.
You’re the new Demon Lord, ruling over the damned souls in the underworld. These inferior souls fear you, but it’s worn you out over time. You’ll explore the underworld and interact with other demons, angels and mystic creatures to discover your purpose.
Gameplay and story
As a ruler, it’s your job to listen to other demons’ proposals to approve or reject them. You have access to your history and a journal. With these tools, you can see who you have spoken to in the past and clues that point to your purpose.
Be aware that the game has a mature rating and suggestive content that isn’t suitable for all gamers. Select ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to confirm that you’re eligible to play this game based on your age.
Graphics and sound
The game uses cartoon-like characters with dialogue at the bottom of the screen. It features the name of the character who is speaking in red letters on a white background. Conversations are displayed in white font on a translucent overlay. The characters aren’t very menacing, but the background music gives the game an eerie feeling.
