Soundplant, or the process of growing and using synthetic sounds through a computer, is a tool that can be used in many ways. Soundplant uses your own computer speakers to generate a wide variety of different sounds, which can be played through your speakers or simply mixed with your computer's sound card. Soundplant is an easy-to-use technology that is completely plug and play. Soundplant has been used by artists worldwide to create music, to create ambiance, and to enhance and expand the performances of performers.
Soundplant was created by Mac Anderson, an IT professional living in Portland, Oregon, who was searching for a powerful new way to augment his performing abilities. After working for the United States military, Anderson realized that the limited triggering sounds via a headset were too limiting, and thus, did not contribute much to his performance. Soundplant offer a long list of short effects, including chords, vocals, and anything else that you can think of to augment your performance.
Soundplant allows you to use a virtual keyboard to trigger all of these sounds and creates a completely new way to perform, taking your performances to the next level. Soundplant works with the iHome hardware and works on any Mac OS X machine. iHome is a company that develops, manufactures, and supports commercial Apple electronic hardware. Soundplant works well with both live and background audio, but is especially useful for triggering live music.
