Bluff your way to survival
Liar’s Bar is a multiplayer bluffing game for Windows developed by Curve Animation. Set in a dimly lit tavern where deception rules, it challenges players to outwit their opponents in high-stakes social games. Survival comes down to lies, half-truths, and clever timing. As an Early Access release, it has already built a buzz.
Unlike traditional card or dice games, this title leans into a sinister theme. Up to four players sit around a table, bluffing through games. Calling a bluff carries more than pride—fail to convince your opponents and your character could face Russian roulette, drink poison, or suffer another grim outcome.
The strength of Liar’s Bar lies in its social deduction gameplay. In Liar’s Deck, cards are placed face-down with claimed values, forcing opponents to guess whether honesty or trickery is at play. Liar’s Dice follows a similar structure, demanding players wager on dice rolls and challenge opponents’ bluffs. These mechanics become far more engaging when layered with consequences, keeping everyone engaged and wary of each other’s moves.
Social deception with a dark edge
Adding to the experience are the game’s stylized characters. Players embody figures like Scubby the Guard Dog, Foxy the Gothic Vixen, Bristle the Butcher Pig, or Toar the Bull. Each has a distinctive look and attitude, enhancing the roleplay element even if they don’t change the rules mechanically. Combined with the bar’s eerie atmosphere and visuals, these avatars give the game a unique personality compared to other titles.
Still, the game is not without drawbacks. As an Early Access project, content is limited, with only two primary game types and a handful of avatars available at the time of writing. Matches can start to feel repetitive once players have mastered the bluffing rhythm, and the humor may not land for everyone. Performance is generally stable, though like many indie projects, optimization will depend on future updates.
A niche but memorable party game
Liar’s Bar is best for fans of party deception games who want a darker spin on classics like Liar’s Dice. Its mix of bluffing, roleplay, and gallows humor creates a distinctive multiplayer experience, even if it’s still rough around the edges. If you enjoy outsmarting friends in tense, ridiculous situations, it’s a bar worth stepping into.
