Free indie mining game
Dig Deep is a free adventure game that greets you with one objective, to keep digging deeper. It was created by indie developer Giantwaffle and is available for Windows only. This fun little game will help you pass the time as you keep progressing deeper and perhaps even find some special ore.
Dig Deep is unique, so it’s one of those releases that is quite hard to compare to other games. Although a mining game, Dig Deep is nothing like the comprehensive and long-standing popular game Minecraft. If you’ve got some free time, and want to try something different, you might as well give it a go.
The controls for this game are pretty basic. First off, you can move your potato-shaped character around with the WASD keys. You’ll also be able to interact by using your mouse. There isn’t much to it.

Gameplay
When you start the game, you’re thrown straight into the intro screen. This is where you’ll get to start the game, access the upgrade shop, learn how to play and exit the game.
While mining, you have two main goals. You have to worry about letting the heat rise too far, thus overheating your vehicle. Further, you have to keep a reactor charged. Don’t stress, though. You’ll be able to upgrade it. That’s where the upgrade shop comes in.
You can upgrade the hull, battery, heat pump, laser and ore refinery to travel deeper. You can upgrade each of these components up to five times. You can earn money by mining ore.
Additional information
The game is just under 25 MB and will work on most computers, as it has very low graphics requirements. It’s also a fully-released game.
A time killer
If you’re looking for a game where you can monotonously grind away and relax, then Dig Deep is right for you. There isn’t much to this game, so don’t set your expectations too high. You might also enjoy it if you enjoy upgrade-based progression games.
