Colorfiction created the æ in the adventure and horror genre. After you’ve purchased the game, you can download the 270 MB ZIP file for installation. The developer made the project using Unity and Adobe Photoshop.
This game consists of looking at confusing and weird shapes, flashing imagery and listening to strange audio. You’ll use keys to move around, much like in Friday Night Funkin.
How to play
This simple game requires little input. You use the WASD keys to move, the mouse to look around, and the escape key to go to the main menu. You explore different locations throughout the experience. There are also many possible endings. According to the developer, an average session lasts only about half an hour. Unfortunately, looking at the constant movements and flashing graphics can lead to headaches for some players.
æ consists of constant movement, flashing graphics and scary sounds. You start out stranded on a mountain, forced to wander. While you’re exploring the dark, you encounter strange shapes and hear weird voices.
You can experience the five glyphs of silence and wade through the dead river. The developer created the spooky background music with interrupted or spliced segments from already-known songs.
ArbitraryMetric developed a similar game named Paratopics. It’s a 30-50 minute adventure and horror game. Like æ, it has weird graphics but only three short spells of fast, flashing lights.
Promesa, developed by Julius Palacios, lets you wander through dreams and memories. It has a visual style that’s a mix of pixel graphics with high-definition lighting.
Dark, weird and confusing
Buy æ for a dark, weird and confusing experience unlike any other. See if you can beat the average half-hour session before a headache forces you to stop exploring. Hopefully, you won’t experience a headache by the end of the game.
