Custom doughnut game
If you’re a fan of doughnuts but can never find exactly the right flavour combination, then here’s Donut Maker! It’s a fun, independently-developed game in which you can design your own doughnut, all from the comfort of your own home.
Variety of customisation options
Developed by a single person as an entry for a minimalist game jam (a game development competition), Donut Maker! offers a decent selection of customisation options, wrapped up in a minimal, user-friendly interface. You can create your dream doughnuts, and then save and share your creations from your desktop.
Make your own doughnuts
As a premise, it’s both straightforward and hard to resist. Who hasn’t been stumped when trying to decide between doughnuts? Donut Maker! features six doughnuts to choose from as your base, with a pick of five icing flavours, five types of drizzle and a further five kinds of toppings.

Sleek, simple UI
The screen is arranged so that doughnut bases are situated in the top left corner, icing types are in the top right, drizzle flavours in the bottom left and the bottom right is for toppings. Your doughnut creation takes pride of place in the centre of the screen.
There’s an option to randomise toppings and also to download your creation. There are no other settings to play with, as there’s no need for them.
Mix and match doughnuts
You can swap between chocolate, plain, marble, lemon poppyseed, pumpkin and blueberry bases. You should also try vanilla, lemon, chocolate, strawberry or maple icing. When progressing further, you can finish your creation with chocolate, raspberry, blueberry, marshmallow or caramel drizzle. Finally, feel free to top it all off with bacon bits or flavoured sprinkles.
The graphics are nothing to write home about as they’re crudely rendered in an MS Paint style, but that doesn’t stop the game from being fun.
Customisation is the key ingredient
Donut Maker! does exactly what it says, no more and no less. Arguably more of an interactive toy than a game, it’s still a unique, fun diversion that’s sure to make your mouth water.
