The first in a new zombie action/adventure series, Into the Dead 2: Zombie Survival received a warm critical acclaim upon its release. The game follows a group of friends who are stranded together after a car crash. While trying to survive, they come across a viral outbreak that turns them into zombies. With help from new friends and allies, they must fight through the horror and find a way to survive the infection and get back home. While fans of the original Into the Dead game will be attracted to the enhanced graphics, it does have some differences that may disappoint fans of the original game.
Unlike the original game, which involves saving the believable main character, Into the Dead 2 offers a number of characters to play as including a new love interest for each main character, several undead hunters and many more. As with the first game, each character has different characteristics, skills, and weapons as well as special moves that make them different from each other and more difficult to defeat with traditional RPG style battles. This change however does not affect the overall game play experience as once you have learned the various abilities of each character you can take them into battle with friends and enemies alike. The one major improvement however is that you no longer have to wait until a certain point in the game to learn each character's skills as you earn experience points (AP) by successfully completing missions and quests.
I believe that the biggest difference between the first game and Into the Dead 2: Zombie Survival is the visuals. The first game was quite dark and while engrossing and visually stimulating, it was not an interactive and engrossing game. The darker scenes combined with the slow pace of the game resulted in a negative balance in the gameplay and left me wanting more. On the other hand, the zombies in Into the Dead 2 are far more realistic, blending the reality of the undead with technology that makes them much more dangerous. Add this game's excellent storyline and enjoyable action along with excellent voice acting and music and you get an addictive, stylish action game that everyone should play.
