Drift City Underground is a free racing game for Windows developed by Heart State Games. You can drift around various environments with eight different vehicles. However, it should be mentioned that the game is still in early access. Developers are constantly improving and adding new elements, from graphical improvements to bug fixes and new content, to enrich the experience.
There’s already a city to explore, with various districts and traffic to drift around. If you want more adrenaline-filled racing, you can try Asphalt 9: Legends, Need For Speed Underground, or Need For Speed Most Wanted.
Drift around the city
Drift City Underground is still in development, but you can already play it for free and drive around the city Heart State Games is building. As the name of the game indicates, driving is closer to arcade titles like Need For Speed than Gran Turismo. This means that your car will easily drift, and it makes for nervous gameplay. You can also use nitrous for an impressive speed boost, and the game evokes the feeling of speed pretty well. Dodging incoming traffic is fun and you can easily crash if you’re not careful.
Explore the map freely
Being in early access, Drift City Underground doesn’t feature any objectives or missions yet, but you can roam the vast city and have fun dodging obstacles or taking ramps. Moreover, you can expect the game to feature more streets and improved graphics as the developer works on it. There are already several districts, including one similar to New York’s Chinatown, and traffic to dodge. The developers have already implemented eight different drivable vehicles, so you can drift around and use nitrous with the car you prefer.
An entertaining racing game in the making
Drift City Underground is already a fun racing game, thanks to its drifting mechanic and the city you can explore. However, this is far from the definitive version of the game, and it should only get better with time. So, if you enjoy arcade racers with intense gameplay, it’s worth giving this free game a shot.
If you’re interested in playing a game as it’s being developed, rather than waiting for the finished article, this is a really good starting point, and augurs well for the future. If the developer keeps up the current standard of visuals and exciting gameplay, we’re all in for a treat.
