Bullet Stack is a free runner game by developer Supersonic Studios LTD involving shooting targets. It’s a unique take on the genre that sets the game apart from others such as Tap Tap Run and Hero Verse Run while sharing some similarities with Sandwich Runner.
Your objective in this game is to accumulate ammo by selecting your path on the track. When you eventually reach a weapon, you can shoot enemies and defeat them to keep progressing. The enemies and obstacles require different amounts of ammo, so part of the action comprises never running out of it.
Retro-style platform
If it weren’t for the guns, Bullet Stack would feel like a simple Super Mario Bros.-era game, but in 3D. This is because you jump into platforms and avoid obstacles besides shooting things. In this case, the protagonist is ammo instead of a plumber in blue overalls.

While there’s not a lot of challenge in defeating those obstacles, the path you select has consequences, too. This is because, as an example, you need to quickly assess whether going to the left and getting more ammo is worth the danger of hitting a circular saw blade.
Elementary graphics
Even though the action is fully in 3D, the graphics are as basic as they get. Most objects are devoid of high-res textures, opting for a simple, colourful style that makes them look like toys. The tracks are also basic, with just solid colours.
That said, animations are good, and there are many of them. For instance, how enemies fall is well done, as the projectile trajectory and explosions are. It may be a low-polygon game, but it somehow feels right.
Simple yet satisfying
Bullet Stack is a good runner game with an interesting take. Even if there’s almost no skill involved in the actual shooting, it’s still fun. The different levels are well-developed, and your skill in avoiding obstacles is equally important as the skill to decide on the best course.
If you like runner games but are in need of a break from 2D side-scrollers, this game is the way to go. Not only is the action in 3D, but it also doesn’t suffer from poorly developed procedurally-generated worlds that some of its counterparts offer. It’s ideal for short bursts of entertainment on the go.
