PojavLauncher for Android

PojavLauncher is a free utility by the mobile developer ArtDeell. This utility is a Minecraft Java Edition launcher for mobile that lets you play Java Edition on almost any device running Android. This app is able to run versions of Minecraft Java Edition from the 1.12.2 update and onward. 

This is not an official Mojang app and therefore doesn’t come with any of the quality assurances that the official Minecraft experience carries. If you are looking for the authentic Minecraft mobile Android experience, try Minecraft Pocket Edition or, alternatively, other versions of the mobile game such as Minecraft Education Edition or Minecraft Story Mode

Minecraft Java Edition on mobile

Minecraft has been one of the most popular games on sale for years. Each update brings more features into the game, and updates like the recently launched Caves and Cliffs and the Wild update load the game with even more realism. That said, there are distinct differences between the game released for PC - Java Edition - and the Pocket Edition mobile alternative. These differences primarily lie in the way certain blocks and features function, but also in the customizability. Since Java Edition runs on computers, you have more choice in the way of shaders and addons than the versions you can play on Android devices. This utility will not give you all of those extra capabilities; it simply lets you run the PC alternative on your phone. 

Performance

As stated above, this is not an official Mojang product; therefore, you should expect to experience issues when running it on your phone. Some of the most commonly encountered issues that users of this app have reported include their game refusing to start, or abruptly crashing during gameplay. 

Hardware

While Minecraft Pocket Edition has been specifically designed and optimized to run within the parameters and limitations that Android devices have, Java Edition simply was built for much beefier hardware setups. Therefore, if you intend to run versions of Minecraft Java Edition higher than 1.12,2, you need to ensure that your device has at least 4 GB of RAM. 

Most new devices come with more RAM as standard, but this app might not run well, or at all, on lower-end or older Android devices. To be safe, only run this app on phones running Android 9.0 and up. Another point to note is that this app doesn’t run on all Android phone models, even if the devices in question meet the minimum hardware requirements. 

A mobile Java experience

Even with all of the hardware-based red tape and performance issues, PojavLauncher is still a good utility to have on hand if you want to play Minecraft Java Edition on your phone. The app does receive updates, so it should be perfectly suited to run the latest versions of the game given your device meets the specifications.
