Free mod for Windows
Wars of the Firstborn Mod is a free mod for The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II and Battle for Middle-Earth II: Rise of the Witch King (LotR: TBfME II and BfME II: RotWK for short) on Windows systems by modder Ridder Clan. It’s based on the discontinued Ridder Clan Mod, and its main focus is enhancing the original games.
You’ll find many new modes of playing, factions, and visual elements. This mod is comprehensive and touches almost every aspect of the base games. It’s in continuous development, too, and highly acclaimed.
Very detailed artwork
An artist created wars of the Firstborn Mod, and it shows. The creator has enhanced the graphics, so units and heroes look more like their movie counterparts, but that’s just the beginning.
Careful attention was given to the smallest of details. For example, elves don’t just look like elves but move like elves. The same goes for buildings, which faithfully represent the movie's artwork.
Plenty of gameplay additions
In Wars of the Firstborn Mod, you can take new elven factions to war, and there are more in development, like the Mirkwood faction. But the additions go beyond new heroes and units, as there are new game modes and a voting system.
Aside from all this, a much-beloved feature from the original Battle for Middle Earth is back: its iconic castle-building system instead of the base building of LotR: TBfME II. But, of course, you’re not obliged to use it. Instead, you can use whichever system you prefer.
A professional-grade mod offering new playthroughs
Wars of the Firstborn Mod is a solid choice for any LotR: TBfME II or BfME II: RotWK fan looking for new and exciting features for these rather old titles. While there are many mods for both, few are as well-developed and pay as much attention to detail as this one.
The modding team has ensured everything works seamlessly, and the additions are high-quality items that could easily be confused for a paid expansion from the games’ developers. The best part is that the mod is in continuous development, and more features are coming.
