Browsing the web has never been faster, especially over slow data connections. Opera Mini provides network tweaks that can drastically speed your browsing experience.
Fast browsing speeds
Opera Mini is a full-featured web browser in a small package. The app uses a slightly outdated version of Google's Chromium rendering engine, but with some tweaks that allow for a faster browsing experience and reduced bandwidth.
Specialised compression is used to view pages, and even videos, at a fraction of their original size, reducing data use which is especially helpful if you are roaming. There are also privacy features such as a built-in VPN, native ad-blocker, and private browsing tabs.
Download videos from your browser
Information is also easy to share with cross-browser syncing and access to standard mobile file sharing features. One unique and interesting feature is the ability to display all videos on a webpage in a separate window and allow you to download or share them directly.
Has some odd quirks
Although Opera provides an alternative to apps like Chrome and Safari, there are a couple of issues with it. Pages can be rendered incorrectly, which creates an oddlooking page. The address bar's suggestions also take up a portion of the screen, and the adblocker doesn't work on every site.
Not taxing on your data
While maintaining close similarity to the desktop version, Opera mini allows much quicker access to websites by pre-compressing data and even videos which is great if you often roam with your cellular data plan, but still need web access.
