Although PhotoPad Image Editor can undertake all the basics of image editing and manipulation, it isn’t Photoshop by any stretch of the imagination, but then again, it never claimed to be. The interface is straightforward with self-explanatory icons placed across a basic toolbar inside the main editing window. It does have all the basic editing tools within easy reach and allows you to apply some nifty effects without any specialized knowledge. PhotoPad Image Editor does not have a massive amount of features that are found in most professional image tools, and even though it is a fairly simple image processor, it does take up a moderate amount of your system resources.

AVS Media Player is a great application that lets you play video and audio files. Additionally, it also allows lets you view your image files as a slideshow. It has a modern looking, easy-to-use interface that can be navigated by users of all levels of expertise. AVS Media Player supports all popular video, audio and image formats. There are a few neat tools such as the ability to search through your media files from the playlist, and whilst you are watching a video, you can make adjustments to the view and sound settings. You also have the ability to enable subtitles, change the aspect ratio, select full screen mode, and set the speaker configuration. Overall, AVS Media Player is a great tool that has been designed very well to perform it's three main functions of viewing video media, playing audio tracks and viewing image files. It has a crisp interface and is fairly lightweight. *AVS Media Player interface is available in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Russian and Spanish.

Resizing images, especially lots of them, can be a laborious exercise! Wouldn’t it be great if someone created an app that can make the job easier? GloryLogic have come up with such an app! Image Tuner Free is able to perform batch resizing, conversions, renaming and watermarking on your images, quickly and easily. The app has been designed with simplicity in mind. It is a small, lightweight app that has a simple interface, which is uncluttered and easy to use. Image Tuner Free supports drag-and-drop functionality, so all your images, or folders containing them, can be dragged into the left pane, and then can be previewed by highlighting them. As soon as you have selected all the images you need, simply choose the output options in the right pane. If you do get stuck, it comes with a built-in Help file that will cover any questions you may have. The app comes with a number of resizing profiles for popular social media websites such as Facebook or devices such as Apple’s iPhone. You can also set sizes for your images, if you wish. Image Tuner Free supports conversion to .JPG, .PNG, .BMP, .GIF or .TIF, and you can choose the quality of the image conversion you require as well. Overall, Image Tuner Free is a really neat little app that can perform a number of image manipulation tasks. The only downside we could find, is that it doesn't appear to have any algorithms for enlarging pictures whilst maintaining high quality. That having been said, the number of other features outweighs any tools that are lacking in this free software. With batch conversion support and the ability to add and edit watermarks, Image Tuner Free is a great app to have for those tedious re-sizing jobs.
Total HTML Converter
Total HTML Converter is a useful little app that can batch convert HTML files to DOC, PDF, HTML, XHTML, TXT, XLS, RTF, TIFF, JPEG, PNG, ODT, EMF, or SVG file formats. The app is not limited to HTML only as the input file though, it also supports MHT, HTM, and XHTML. All this can done through a standard explorer style user interface or via the command line prompt. The app can add data such as date and time to each page of the output file. You can even add an image watermark to your target files if you need to. It also comes with lots of other handy conversion options such as fit-to-page, IE footer & header support, or the ability to add a digital signature to the output files. Total HTML Converter also comes with a few neat tools under the hood, such as the option to enable or disable Java scripts on your page. This is a great time saving feature, and, if there are any slow scripts on your page, Total HTML Converter is able to stop them. Page loops are also not an issue, as the app is still able to covert it in a reasonable time frame. Overall, Total HTML Converter is very easy-to-use and can be navigated by users of all levels of expertise. It is lightweight and has a minimal system impact.

In the display area you can see information such as width x height x colors & image type information about the file. The developer claims 'Fast Folder Access is the fastest way you can access your files in the Windows Explorer.' We tend to agree with them.

SILKYPIX Developer Studio SE is a RAW development app, which allows you to create superb, high quality, high-resolution, low-noise images from RAW data using Panasonic digital cameras. Key Features include: Accurate color representation. Batch tagging and processing. A neat feature worth noting is the ability to tag each image and then process them in batches. This is useful if you need to apply the same correction to a number of images from the same shoot. You can also tag and delete multiple images in batch as well. Overall, SILKYPIX Developer Studio SE’s automatic settings for processes such as exposure, white balance, and tone curves are fairly accurate. You can, if you choose, tweak your images based upon your own preferences, or you can revert to the original camera settings. The tool layout may be efficient once you work it out, but it does take a little time to be comfortable navigating, and this lets the app down somewhat.

MetaX is a small, lightweight app that has been designed to tag* various movie formats, such as .MP4, .M4V, .MOV, .MKV, .WMV, and .AVI. It works by grabbing data from numerous online sources such as IMDB, Amazon, The Movie Database, etc. The main window is divided into smart panes, which let you quickly perform searches, and check video information, edit sorting options, and chapters, view the queue list, and it also shows a status pane for extra information. The app does not support drag and drop, so you need to enter the details via the built-in browse button. The tool lets you add tags for the name, artist, show, album artist, and album, as well as split, merge, rest, or delete chapters. In addition, you can manually edit the information, and upload a custom image (in .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, or .TBN). MetaX has some neat features as well, such as the ability to copy tags from one file to another, toggle the check boxes on or off, and write all files from the queue list. Overall, MetaX is an efficient video tagging utility that has a good list of features that helps you tag your movies and grab metadata and cover images from various online sources. It is worth noting that the unregistered version allows you to tag up to 5 files in order to test out the software. Once tagged, you can also see how your files will look in a media player of your choice. *Not all formats support all tags.
