MapleStory - An Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) Review
MapleStory is a Free-to-Play, 2D, massively multi-player, side scrolling, totally free MMORPG, developed by South Korean game developer Wizet. MapleStory has a simple, clean, cartoon-style design, which is different from the rest of its genre. Several versions of this game have been released for certain regions or countries, and they all are published by different companies including Nexon. MapleStory, unlike many other massively multi-player RPG games, revolves around a single world, rather than an intricate world map.
MapleStory contains several classes, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. There are also several, optional sub-categories that can be chosen by the player. Some of the optional classes include the following: Healer, Knight, Mage, Priest, Rogue, and the weakest class, the Ninja. Unlike other massively multi-player RPG games, MapleStory has an extensive job system, where jobs can be completed in different ways. The jobs include jobs like the following: Blacksmith, Carpenter, Farmers, Fisherman, Huntress, Lumberjack, and Carpenter. These jobs can all be changed through the in-game tools and jobs menu.
MapleStory incorporates an action theme, with an emphasis on hack-and-slash type of play. Some of the weapons used in the game revolve around slashing, while others function more like guns. Some of the in-game items revolve around skills or elemental attacks. A new element, called the "orb", is also introduced to the genre.
