Feeding Frenzy 2 Game Review
Feeding Frenzy 2: Shipwreck Showdown, formerly known as Feeding Frenzy, is an arcade-type platform game by American designer Scott Couch and European designer Christian Gough. It's the follow-up to the highly popular first game Feeding Frenzy: Seasons of Life. The game has been developed and released by PopCap Games in October 2021. It features both, text-based dialogue and occasional full-motion graphic effects, and was one of the year's best-selling computer games.
In the game mode, the storyline surrounds a group of stranded whales who are looking for a place to call home. The game starts when one of the whales ends up on an oil rig and is transformed into a monster-like creature that attacks any fish it can lay its eyes on. The player's task is to feed the whales with fish food provided through the in-game menu so that they stay happy and feed rather than becoming angry and return to their previous state. You do this by earning points by winning battles and completing challenges, which unlock more difficult challenges as you go along, and can be collected via a series of small chests found throughout the game.
Like the first game, though, there aren't any true achievements or special items that you can get from this version, just like the achievements for the first game. Instead, you just use your mouse to trigger the various actions and use your keyboard to perform others. To earn the special items, however, you'll have to play through all the levels and complete each challenge within a certain time period, much like the Time Attack mode from the original Feeding Frenzy, though you don't have to beat the computer to finish any of the challenges. There's also a time trial mode where you must beat the clock to complete all five challenges before time expires; you do this by launching straight at a whale that you can't see and hoping you hit it enough to trigger the correct action, though obviously you can't aim in this mode.
