Developer Mr Ryu created Dead Dating, a free murder-mystery game for Windows. However, this is no Agatha Christie novel. This story is acted out by a cast of hot gay hunks with various stunning physiques.
What should have been a romantic get-together in a mansion on an isolated island has turned into a race against time to find a murderer. You'll have to use all your relationship-making skills and powers of deduction if you're going to get off the island alive. The Case of the Serialized Killer is another option for a murder-mystery game with an LGBTQ slant. Another option for horror with homosexual themes is the Vampire Slave visual novel.
You and 10 other guys have assembled in a remote island mansion for a weekend of romantic encounters. Your amorous adventure has to be set aside for a much darker one when sweet romance is turned into a deadly encounter.
The game's relationship system helps to make the experience more realistic. Any decision you make for one of the characters will affect his mood and subsequent actions. This aspect of the game contributes to the multi-line plot with its multiple endings. Naturally, your effect on one character affects their interactions with others.
As you might expect, there's lots of customisation available for your playable character. Additionally, there's a variety of costumes to dress in.
Our review of Dead Dating is the general release version that is more visible to a wider audience. However, the developer has also created a 'full' version that contains sexually explicit scenes that venture into the pornographic. The story and characters are the same, so this review is still relevant to the gameplay.
Bromance aside, Dead Dating is worth anybody's time. The graphics are those of a very good visual novel, the characters are well-written and the game's underlying mechanisms keep it interesting.
In our opinion, it's a smart move by the developer to create two versions. This makes it easy to choose your preferred gay summer horror bromance.
