Chingari is a video sharing app advertised as ‘Indian TikTok.’ It lets you share and browse fun uploads in various languages, earn real-life money through active engagement, and enjoy quizzes and games.
An exciting alternative
Since many Chinese apps, including the popular TikTok, got banned in India, the native developers have had to step up and create alternatives. Some of the most notable names that have appeared include Mitron, ShareChat, and Chingari.
Content variety
This multimedia app contains videos in Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Punjabi, etc. You can access it without an account and view everything from news to entertaining content by other users.
The login process is straightforward. All you need to do is download the app on your Android or iOS smartphone and register. You then upload videos through the built-in camera and editor and contribute to the content selection.
User interface & use
When you open the app, you'll see three main windows, containing videos, games, and news on an easy-to-navigate UI. When you visit the settings, you can switch amongst ten Indian dialects and English.
The chief portion of the app consists of videos, which you view by swiping up or down. You can also like and comment on them. Moreover, there are many quizzes and mini-games to kill time.
Finally, the news tab will show you reports from various local and international news channels, which you read through the in-app browser.
Monetisation
You can earn actual rupees by being a dedicated content creator on Chingari. The app determines how much it pays you by the level of virality your videos achieve.
Every time you upload a video, you collect points for each view you get. If you gather enough, you can receive money in exchange.
Needs improvement
Overall, Chingari rests on an excellent idea, although not the most original one. The video app contains plenty of bells and whistles to keep you coming back. Unfortunately, however, it lags and crashes often enough to become more trouble than it’s worth.
