Free social media app for Android
Truth Social is a free social media app for Android by T Media Tech LLC. This app is a fully-fledged social network, just like Twitter and Facebook. What’s unique about Truth Media, however, is that former US President Donald Trump founded it.
This social network is geared towards a less-restricted networking experience while offering many things other networks do. The team behind it claims it’s a space where you can share your thoughts freely, without fearing censure or bans. With that being said, the actions you can take on Truth Social are similar to other networks, as is the layout.
In terms of user experience, Truth Social doesn’t innovate much, nor does it need to. Some of the sections are simply renamed versions of what you’ll see on other social networking platforms. For example, the ‘News Feed’ from Facebook is called ‘Truth Feed’, but it essentially works in the same way.
Similarities with mainstream social networks
You can search for profiles, upload posts with images and videos, and receive notifications. You also have likes, comments and followers. The interface also looks almost identical to that of Facebook, with some Instagram-like icons such as hearts instead of thumbs-up.
A new experience
Truth Social claims to be geared towards a less controlled social networking experience. According to the people behind it, this means less censorship and more freedom of speech.
However controversial, it’s true that many things that are allowed on Truth Social wouldn’t be permitted on other platforms. This is one of the reasons Google didn’t initially approve its listing on its PlayStore. At that time, Truth Social’s requirements for controlling abusive behaviour and violent content didn’t meet Google’s requirements.
Worth checking out for a fresh take on social media
If you feel mainstream networks are suffocating, or want a new outlet for your ideas, Truth Social is a must. While other networks often boast about how safe and curated they are, Truth Social makes freedom its biggest selling point. They claim other networks are heavily censored, and don’t allow all people to share their opinions.
If you only use social networks to check on your family and friends or post funny cat videos, Truth Social won’t offer anything different. However, if you want to check out a different tone for social network posts, it’s worth giving this platform a try.
